NIAAA’s mission is to assist adults age 60 and older and their families. NIAAA is one of 13 Area Agencies in Illinois and 670 across the nation sharing the mission of the federal Older Americans Act. A
21 member Board of Directors representing the nine counties of our region
governs NIAAA. The Board receives input from a 21 member Advisory Council.
The majority of Advisory Council members are over age 60. |
|
| NIAAA develops and administers an Area Plan for Aging Services in northwestern Illinois. The Area Plan is a comprehensive planning, management and funding document. In developing the plan, NIAAA assesses the needs of older adults, identifies issues for long-range planning, sets priorities for funding, and outlines state and local initiatives. As part of the planning and funding process, a network of social, nutritional, and other supportive services for older persons and their caregivers is established. | ||
