A 21 member Board of Directors representing the nine counties of our region governs NIAAA. The Board receives input from a 21 member Advisory Council. For more information about the advisory council, click here.
NIAAA's nine county service area includes a senior population of over 127,000 and an estimated caregiver population of over 56,600. Annually, over 28,000 persons age 60 and older receive one or more of NIAAA’s fourteen funded services. |

NIAAA develops and administers an 'Area Plan' for aging services in northwestern Illinois. The Area Plan is a comprehensive planning, management and funding document. In developing the plan, NIAAA assesses the needs of older adults, identifies issues for long-range planning, sets priorities for funding, and outlines state and local initiatives. As part of the planning and funding process, a network of social, nutritional, and other supportive services for older persons and their caregivers is established. |
