The purpose of NIAAA Advisory Council (Council) is to advise the NIAAA Board of Directors (Board).
1. Issues requiring Council input
The Board receives advice from the Council on the following topics:
a. Developing and administering the area plan;
b. Conducting public hearings;
c. Representing the interests of older persons;
d. Reviewing and commenting on all community policies, programs and actions which affect older persons; and
e. Performing other duties as assigned by the NIAAA Board.
2. Composition of Council
The Council is composed of 22 members as follows:
a. One ex officio member from the Board;
b. Two representatives each from the counties of Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, Jo Daviess, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside; and
c. Five members from Winnebago.
3. Nominations
The NIAAA nominating committee presents a slate of Council candidates to fill any vacancies at the Board's annual meeting.
4. Term of Council members
Each Council member is appointed for a term of three years until a successor is appointed.
5. Vacancy of Council members
Any vacancy occurring on the Council may be filled for the duration of the unexpired term by action of the Board.
6. Meetings
The Advisory Council meets the second Tuesday, every other month. Following is the schedule for fiscal year 2012.
