NIAAA Services

NIAAA provides the following services for adults and their family members:

Information and Assistance: NIAAA staff provides prompt, courteous and comprehensive information on the full range of benefits, services and programs available to older adults. Professional help and skilled guidance are available on community resources including consumer advice on how to choose the best service options. Staff is specially trained to complete applications for pharmaceutical assistance, tax help, energy assistance and other programs. Personalized and confidential assistance is provided over the phone or at the NIAAA office.

Pharmaceutical Assistance: The range of prescription options is confusing and sometimes overwhelming. NIAAA staff completes applications for the Illinois SeniorCare Program, Circuit Breaker/Pharmaceutical Assistance programs and other pharmaceutical assistance cards and programs including the Illinois RX Buying Club and Medicare Pharmaceutical Assistance exam cards.

Caregiver Assistance: Do you provide care for your spouse or an older relative or friend? Are you helping with household chores, running errands, or food preparation? Do you take time away from work or your family to help a disabled or ill friend or family member? Are you looking for help for a parent or loved-one living in another state? Has your spouse, parent, or loved one been in and out of the hospital or nursing home? Our trained staff provides free consultation and assistance to make sure both you and your elder relative receive needed help.

Senior Community Service Employment Program: NIAAA’s employment staff offers assistance to adults age 55 and over entering or re-entering the workforce. Whether you need to work to supplement your retirement income or want to work and are considering either part or full time employment, consultation and assistance is available to explore past job experience and current career goals. Training opportunities are explored and assistance is provided in obtaining help from a range of employment resources.

NIAAA places eligible older workers over the age of 55 in training opportunities at local community service agencies. The Senior Community Service Employment Program is available to those over age 55 and with incomes at 125% of the poverty level. Older adults not eligible for the program are also assisted in obtaining training and employment opportunities.

If you are interested in any of the above services and want additional information, please contact our office.
