NIAAA PUBLICATIONS


picNIAAA publishes several guides and directories providing information for older adults, caregivers and professionals. Whether you need information on in-home care, prescription assistance, assisted living facilities, or other housing, etc., we have a directory filled with helpful information and guidance.

Each of our publications is described below. Clicking on the title of a guide or directory will allow you to open and download a copy of that document. Printed copies of each of these publications are available from the NIAAA office. We do not charge a fee for these publications, however, donations help us cover our printing costs.

ALZHEIMER’S DIRECTORY
Inside this directory you will find information and resources to help you or a loved one affected with Alzheimer’s disease. Memory diagnostic clinics, Alzheimer’s Associations, support groups, legal concerns, behavioral issues and tips, and much more are addressed in this directory.

ASSISTED LIVING GUIDE for Northwestern Illinois
Assisted Living, Supportive Living or Sheltered Care provide housing and support for those who cannot live on their own independently, but yet are not ready to move into a nursing home. Each facility in our nine counties has a one-page description of their facility, services and fees. Other information will guide you in how to choose a facility that meets your needs.

HOME CARE GUIDE
Home care involves much more than a homemaker or CNA coming to your home to provide care. In this guide you will find information on a mobile doctor program, emergency response systems, home delivered meals, hiring a private caregiver, and more. Of course, a list of licensed in-home care agencies and the services they provide is included.

LONG TERM CARE GUIDE for Northwestern Illinois
If you are looking for a long-term care facility for yourself or a loved one, check this guide for helpful information. It provides helpful information on choosing a facility, paying for care, and a checklist allowing you to compare among three facilities. Each facility in northwestern Illinois has it’s own one-page listing of services and fees.

PRESCRIPTION ASSISTANCE GUIDE
Need help paying for your medications? This guide provides information on a host of programs and ways to save on your prescription costs. The Medicare Prescription Drug Program, IL Cares Rx, Veterans’ Assistance, Manufacturer Indigent Programs, and much more are discussed, along with safety tips and communicating with your doctor about your medications.

SENIOR BENEFITS & SERVICES GUIDE
This guide discusses a variety of programs available to adults 60 years of age and older. Whether you are looking for insurance information, transportation, legal services, tax savings programs, energy assistance, senior centers, employment, or other programs, this guide provides a wealth of information on more than 30 different programs.

SENIOR INDEPENDENT HOUSING DIRECTORY for Winnebago County
Whether you are looking for subsidized housing, a senior hi-rise, or a place that provides meals and activities, this directory lists more than 30 facilities offering independent housing. Each facility has a one-page listing describing their services. The last page of the directory has a checklist allowing you to compare up to three facilities.
