Many older adults face the reality of having to take one or more medications each day to improve or maintain their health. Paying out of pocket for these medications without insurance or some other form of assistance is difficult for most people.
Fortunately, there are a number of programs that provide coverage to help lower the price you pay for prescriptions. Click on the link above for a more detailed description of these programs and other valuable information such as: tips on cutting costs and managing your medications; drug interactions; talking with your doctor; and using medication safely. You may also obtain a copy of this guidebook by contacting the NIAAA office.
If you would like to speak with someone about pharmaceutical assistance, there is specially trained staff in your communities to help answer questions about your drug coverage, assist you in applying for benefits, or advocate for you should you encounter problems with your prescription coverage. Assistance is free of charge, although donations are gratefully accepted. Click here for local agencies providing pharmaceutical assistance.
